The Fake field goal punt

What the fuck was that? Anybody seen that before?

I hadn't. Great call, I thought, and a good punt.

 

Saw it a few times. Once against us I think. Maybe 97. It's hard to do because the snap becomes at an angle and the kickers never have to handle the ball otherwise.

Hell I saw kordell Stewart line up from shotgun and punt once.

Of course, having them do it once sparked the idea but I probably would have done this instead of having Kasay kick that 52 (BTW, what's up with that kicker from UNC?)

 

The Redskins used to put Gus Frerotte in the shotgun on 3rd down and let him quick kick it. It always worked. I thought Billick made a great call.

 

i sure as hell wasn't expecting it. Hell, they could have pulled off the pass if they wanted to, they had at least one guy wide open running after the punt.

 

I agree with you MVM. That 50 yrd fg attempt wasn't a good idea. It gave them the ball on the 40 when a punt or quick kick might have put them deep on their side of the field. My heart sank when Kasay missed.

 

Randall did one of those also one year that wen't for like 80 yards in the Meadowlands (I think)
