    Basically, the REd Sox were underdogs in all three of those World Series. A game seven even happening was shocking.

    Just like the 2003 ALCS, everybody talks about Pedro staying in and Aaron Boone. I still can't believe Wakefield beat Mike Mussina at the stadium in game 6 to force game 7.

    oh well.

    Only the ones looking to make themselves the story.

    See Mike's comments below. Plus, for most of its history the Red Sox lost not because of some stupid curse, but because they built flawed teams.

    I agree the Sox were underdogs in those three Series, but the 86 team taking it to seven games is hardly shocking. Not when you had Clemens and Hurst throwing.

    I can still hear Vin Scully intoning "and out of the shadows steps Calvin Schirldi" as he emerged from the bullpen. I was sure it was gonna be lights out.
