The Red Sox have made it to the WS 3 times since 1918 - losing all 3 of course. How is this any different? Plus - 2 of those 3 were to the Cards, and they took both to game 7 and lost. Prolonging the agony. They went to game 7 against the Mets, too.

I'm fascinated by the collective denial / idiocy / false optimism of Boston fans - how the fuck is the curse over? Right now, it's more of the same. That franchise is so fucking affected, so on tilt, so certain that fate is against them, that it'll be a fucking miracle if they don't lose this series. St Louis fans need to get their Babe 8.5 X 11 copies printed.

1946 St. Louis 4, Boston Red Sox 3

    1967 St. Louis 4, Boston 3

    1986 NY Mets 4, Boston 3

Either way - I'm psyched. Great sports drama - if the Red Sox win - reversed. If they lose - strengthened. Loads of fun.

they've made it to four world series since 1918. The 75 series against the reds is missing. they lost in 7 in that one too.

    Oops.

At any rate - It was cool as shit to watch them come back from 0-3, but it just seems like the baddest of all bad juju to think that this 'reversed the curse'.

this is what I was talking about. They just got to the world series and think the "curse" is now over or whatever. They've already burned shit and had someone killed. If they actually win the whole thing, we'll never hear the end of it, even if they never win it again.

They'll also forget the NY to boston world series championships since then is 26-1. I'm not a fan of either but damn will this get annoying, it already is. i'm sure the true fans enjoy this, but the bandwagoners are everywhere now.

THe fans and the team seem to think there is, and that's all that matters.

Doubt it. But if so, what, 26 championships aren't too bad.

No - b/c Yankees fans just aren't as pathetically self loathing as Red Sox fans.

The fans and the franchise created the curse - by always choking.

You forgot about the 1975 World Series? YOur baseball comments are forever dead to me.

1967 Cardinals won way over 100 games and had Bob Gibson in games 1, 4, and 7. The 1966 Red sox finished ninth and won the 67 pennant with what is know in Boston as "The Impossible Dream". They rode Jim Lonborg and Yaz's shoulders.

1975. Big Red Machine. 108 wins. nuff said.

1986. Mets. 108 wins. Their rotation Ojeda 18-5, Gooden 17-6, Sid Fernandez 16-6, and Ron DArling 15-6. Sox closer Calvin Schiraldi, an August call up from Pawtucket, obviously wasn't ready for games of this magnitude in Shea Stadium.
