A Clark County woman calls 911 to report herself as a drunk driver.
Mary Strey, 49, of Granton was driving home from the bar around 11:28 p.m. on Saturday night when she called 911 to report a drunk driver. When the dispatcher asked Strey if she was following the drunk driver, she told police she was the drunk driver.
As she continued driving towards her home the dispatcher asked Mary to stop her vehicle on the side of the road and turn on her vehicle's flashers, which she did. Police found her parked on the side of the road.
Police gave Strey a field sobriety test. According to the criminal complaint Strey's speech was slurred, she stumbled, was swaying back and forth and could not perform the tests.
She was arrested on charges of drunk driving, first offense. Officers say Strey told them she had started drinking earlier in the day and had had seven or eight brandy and Cokes at different bars in Neilsville.
At the time of her arrest, officers say her blood alcohol level was 0.17.

I am from NY. It is unfortunate that it happens but it is not just females in a relationship that get abused. I have known some males who have been abused by woman as well. You are right it is a dominance and control tactic. Same thing when it happens to children or animals. Humans are a violent creature by nature. There is nothing funny about it. The abuse that happens physically leaves a mark for sometime but the mark fades. The mental abuse that happens with the physical is what lasts a life time. Mental abuse comes in many forms and most people do not realize that they are a contributor. All it takes is a joke about someones weight or maybe how smart ( or unsmart) they are and you are a factor in mental abuse. You may view it as a harmless joke but to the person it is aimed at it may not be. How many people would actually step in between (or call the police about) a physical fight between a couple? Not many I know because most say it is not my business or not my problem. By not doing anything you are condoning abuse. For anyone who has made a joke about it shame on you. I hope you are never in or have ever been in an abusive situation. To any female or male, young or old if you are in this situation do not be afraid to speak up. Do not live in fear about doing something. There are places and people who will and can help. All you have to do is take back control of your life and contact them. Easier said then done. I know. I have been there. Once you are out of this situation do not under any circumstance go back to it. Either by going back to the same abuser or finding another one to be with. The only way abuse is going to end permanently for everyone is if everyone gets involved. Stop turning a blind eye to it just because it does not involve you or is not your problem!


If you see or hear someone getting abused.. The first step is to call the police. Do not ever get physically involved unless absolutely necessary.

I understand what you are saying but you must realize it's a two way street. I'm sure most men involved in an abusive relationship wish the women would stop saying and doing things that make him have to hit her.
