You're right, and that's the bone of contention. It's an awful newspaper and it's run by people who have no idea what they are doing.

I understand your argument, but there are papers in other cities have that similar schools to Charlotte that get much better coverage. Mike's argument was always that the Observer was a "regional" paper, but there are years of arguments where he would say one thing and then do another.

Regardless, he has been antagonistic toward our fanbase. Even if we don't "sell papers," that is no way to run a newspaper department. He should have never joined a niner message board in the first place and he certainly shouldn't have his writers posting our on board.

You'll never hear me defend the quality of the Observer's sports coverage. I think it tanked years ago and has gone downhill under the current sports editor. I'm not a MP fan and haven't been for close to 30 years.

With the current economics in that business, you aren't going to see more coverage of UNCC. Hell, they take AP reports on most b-ball games for the Duke's & Carolina's. Your frustration may be better directed at your schools SID office and AD's office. They aren't getting the job done. With limited resources, papers are looking for spoon fed stories that cost them nothing. Just something to think about.

As a side note, if Charlotte wants coverage, they are going to have to start generating revenue for the Observer. Duke doesn't so I wouldn't expect Charlotte to. The evil baby blue guys do generate ad revenue, that's why you see special 8 page spreads on Nat'l titles. Wachovia poured a lot of money into UNC related media. Who do the Niners have?

Highest ranked since 1999. One thing is for sure, I sure as hell am not thanking UNC for high ratings.

Duke was in the 1999 title game too right? Yeah that's what I thought.

Butler being in the finals is what really generated the high rankings.

Pure conjectecture on your part. Of course Butler helped ratings but to say Duke/MSU would of been crap is asinine. It may of not been any different than Chapel Hill/MSU last year.

That's a whole other topic that has field pages and pages over the years on NN.N. I agree with you.

Sure, Butler brings ratings dynamite wherever they go.

It was the underdog thing the media hyped. Most people didn't even realize Butler was a preseason top 15 team.
