Looks like any number of 'inspirational' sports movies before it

It isn't. I can see from the trailers why you would think that, but sports really is not the main focus.

I thought it was the best sports movie since Prefontaine.

The movie was very good but the book is such a great read that the movie doesn't do his situation justice. He pretty much had zero education till he got to Briarcrest Christian. He could barely even read or write. I think the movie glossed over that a little. He also didn't get a 2.52 GPA at graduation. I know why they edited the real part out, but he still didn't have the GPA to get into Ole Miss after he graduated. Sean Touhy ended up finding a loophole where he could take online computer courses from BYU and those grades he got would replace any F's he would have gotten his freshman year before he moved to private school, so he took like 4 BS online courses, got A's on them, and those 4 A's replaced his 4 F's and that's how he got into Ole Miss, and he reported to Ole miss in August. Also, Collins was in the same grade as Michael and I thought that was an important part of the book, how they had classes together, graduated together, and he felt comfortable going down to Ole Miss because she was down there with him. I did really like the movie. I can't believe that was Tim McGraw. Didn't even recognize him

McGraw did a decent job but he still sucks as a singer.

I haven't had the chance to read the book yet. Movies are never as good. I guess they did what they needed to do to make the movie. Still a terrific story regardless of the embellishments.

I would never have recognized Tim McGraw, either. Looks a lot different without a cowboy hat!
