They chose not to include anything reserving some of the spots for conference champions, so that doesn't mean any more now than it did before. Meanwhile you could easily get a 10-2 #4 team beating a 12-0 #1 team in a fluky game and suddenly going undefeated in the regular season means shit. At least a 11-1 #2 team would deserve to play someone like that. Now there's much less incentive to play a tough non-conference schedule since Boise has shown that you can finish top four pretty consistently by playing just a couple of decent teams each season.

Its all about money with the championship game going to the city that pays the most. Glad they have some form of playoff. Listening to Cowherd he says you'll never get 2 teams from the same conference to play each other in a championship game like we did last year. I for one could care less that an undefeated team gets beat in semis. Tells me the higher seeded team didn't take the other team seriously.

Winning one game doesn't make you a better team for the season. Now there's absolutely nothing special about going undefeated, as you just need to finish in the top four.
