It's not that Keyshawn was in any way a dominant player, but rather that in the NFL the margin between wins and losses is razor thin.

They got rid of Henning

For all the special teams sucked
They revamped special teams lots of new blood and a PR/KR

For all the O-line Sucks
They changed to zone blocking

For all the Smith can be shut down as a one man show

The new OC has coached on teams that had no one of STEVE's status and they spread the ball around Carter and Colbert will see the ball ,Foster & Williams will see more passes

For all the Delhome needs to get back to 03
They brought in CARR
B/C as good as 03 was, most of 03 early wins was DAVIS not Delhome

The Panthers have alot of bright spots going into 08
But everone judges them on last seasons stats and problems

This is a new season with new
1- OC 2- Line Coach 3- Zone Blocking 4- WR Jarrett 5- PR/KR 6-special team players 7- LB's 8- center/guard 9- front office attitude on players being in shape

Safety has always been a weak spot as has TE

and because, as I stated, 2003 was his worst year statistically

 

I'm with Riddel. We could go 6-10 or 10-6, and neither would surprise me too much. There are just too many variables and unknowns right now.

 

It comes down to injuries. If we stay healthy we will be a playoff team. If we don't.....7-9.

 

The key as detailed on many threads already is getting some kind of running game. Jake is not going to carry the team to the playoffs with the group of recievers he has now. Smith is gold, but after that nothing but question marks. If the Panthers can get some balance on offense and a LB or 2 pans out (Morgan healthy, Beason helping) the team could win 10 games. That's a lot of if's. I say 8-8.

 

Damn. 6-10. So a lot of you are saying we have the worst team in the Fox era? Geez, when did we become the Brown or the Lions? Every year with Fox I've felt we can make the playoff and this year is no different. If fact, I'm excited that we will finally strive to have an offense that scores more than 16 points a game. I'm excited about some young guys stepping up. I think they're going to shock quite a few people.

I say we go 12-4.

I think they will start slow and finish strong. There are a lot of rookies who will have a lot more reps than most years. A new Offense and a new secondary coach. There is going to be a lot of learning curves that will have to level off before they can get rolling.

 

My gut tells me that it will take three, probably four years to get this thing turned around.
