See QC's response. And while we're at it, did you actually attend the University of Tennessee?

Pro teams are different. You should like the home town team. I think you're missing the point about WHY intercollegiate athletics were founded - to promote school pride and keep the alumni involved.

I understand ,its just that I also went to two different schools, yet pulled for the Tarheels ever since I can remember. I dont pretend to be an alum though.

I just hate it(in general, not you HH) when someone looks down on a fan of a team because they didnt attend there. if you went to a school , then yes you have a more passion, etc. but it still doesnt mean you cant be a fan. lets face it, when people are fans of a school, and brag whatever, it always over the athletic teams, not the academics. we dont go to classrooms and watch people take tests, we go watch the teams play.

Hey, I completely agree, and I went to two schools so I understand that too. If I sound like I'm saying you cannot root for school X, that's not what I mean. But, my argument is that they should not be your #1 allegiance. be proud of where you went to school. It is a big part of who you are. As Vito likes to tease (me) - "HH actually admits to going to UNCC."

Yeah. I do. It ain't Harvard for academics or even UT for sports, but it's still first on my list.

No, I imagined that you probably did, otherwise it would be extraordinarily foolish to take the stance that you have. What I was leading to was the point that UT is below average in terms of national academic rankings, so I wondered if you went there because of finances or because you always liked the Vols. Your recent behavior notwithstanding, you seem smart enough to have gone somewhere better.

na, I understand you point also.

I went back to school(UNCC) at 30 to finish my degree, and got transfered from my job about 4 classes from graduating. couldnt pass up the money as it was more than I would make with degree. I dont know who to pull for :banginghe

Attending a school for four years for reasons that have absolutely nothing to do with athletics obviously DOES NOT trump pulling for a team your entire life. HardHarry seems to have some major malfunction in not being able to understand and respect that. My allegiance is lifelong. Once given, I do not rescind it simply because I have developed some relationship with a new school.
