That's a good point, I certainly didn't expect much in 2000. That said, I don't see any Battier's or Carawells on UNC, and Duke had a good class in 2000. UNC is having to wait a year for their "rebuilding" class. Still, as a UNC hater, this upcoming season isn't that exciting for me. No way they will win less than 8 games, I imagine they will win somewhere between 15 an 18 games.

You'd better keep a REALLY really close eye on dook before saying that. They SERIOUSLY may be in the same situation before you know it. I'm not badmouthing dook. Just something that I've noticed lately has been forming my opinion towards that. UNC will be decent this year. Better than a lot of dookies expect, but if I were a dookie I'd watch my words. I promise you it'll come back to bite.

Um UNC had the #4 rated recruiting class THIS year. That's not counting the #1 class that will be coming in NEXT year. THIS years class is the foundation and next year the light fixtures and furniture are brought in.

I'm just saying that every UNC fan is talking about how this year is a rebuilding year. Since when does UNC ever have a rebuilding year. They have 3 McDonald's All American's come in, and they should only when 15 games or so, in a weak ACC this year. I know they have a great class next year. As long as Coach K is at Duke, there is no way they have a rebuilding year. Last year was a down year for Duke and they went 27-6, and that's a bad year for Duke. If they don't make the tournament this year. That's 3 times in 5 years they will have fallen short. Sure you have a title, but 3 times in 5 years of UNC not making the tournament and somehow it's an ok thing around Chapel Hill. I actually think they'll win 18 and make the tournament as like a 10 seed, but that's just cause the ACC is really down.

    uh huh

well i cant stand the heels as much as the next duke fan.. but just like duke last year wasnt expected to come close to going anywhere passed 4th in the acc.. i give roy his props hes a great coach and just like duke surprised ppl last year.. unc may slip up and surprise people this year... like the saying goes... "thats why they play the games"... but just like unc last year.. duke definitely has the talent this year to go all the way and anything less will be disappointing.. but last year was prolly the first time that the 2 best teams with the most talent have both made it all the way.. we'll know in april

I know this is hard for you to understand, but anytime that ANY team loses their top 7 scorers they are rebuilding the next year regardless of who is coming in. Yes a very talented group coming in, but they are freshman.

How was last year a down year for dook? They choked and weren't rebuilding, so what was their issue, lost a player or two but not 7. It's more of other teams being better in the conference.

If they don't make the tourney, sure that is disappointing, but I am sure any program would take a championship every 5 years. But again, no program has lost as much even dook, just something you have to deal with and move on. Hopefully Roy can continue to put together recruiting classes like this coming year and next year and then it won't matter as much when you lose some players. This team is still having to deal with some weak recruiting classes and get them out of the system here.

It's good to see the haters out though, it's makes it easier to see how jealous they are. :woohoo:

Everyone was talking about how last year was going to be a down year for Duke. Duke's averaged 30 wins over the last 5 years. The real reason why many people said it would be a down year was because Duhon left and they had no true point guard (besides Dockery who was very shaky his sophomore year). Duhon wasn't the best, but he was a good leader and could handle the ball well. Last year, Duke didn't have a great point guard and Dockery missed the end of the season so Duke had to play Ewing at point and even had Nelson run the point which was interesting. The reason why I think Duke will go all the way this season is because Shelden Williams and improved point guard play. Dockery was greatly improved, and if Greg Paulus is all cracked up to his reputation Duke will be lovin life for the next couple of years. Paulus to McRoberts will be in every UNC fans nightmares

Could someone explain to me how suckit can be a "diehard" fan of Georgia in football, but a "diehard" fan of Duke in basketball? Is that possible? I didn't know you could cherry-pick several really good teams in different sports as your supposed "favorite."

I used to bleed carolina blue, but I go to UNCC now, so I am truly all about the NINERS. sockit is a cool guy tho just for the record lol

I grew up in Charlotte, I've been watching Duke football and basketball since I was born. If Georgia played Duke in either football or basketball I would cheer for Duke. I watch Duke football games every week, but as you know Duke is one of the worst team's in college football. I've posted on these boards for over five years about Duke basketball, and I love Duke way more than I would ever love Georgia. I don't have pictures of D.J. Shockley on my wall, but I sure have Laettner making the game winning shot against Kentucky, Grant Hill, and Shane Battier all over my wall. I didn't even like Georgia anything before I came to school here. I actually cheered for Florida State in the Sugar Bowl against Georgia in 2002. Duke will always come first to me over Georgia. I still cheer for Georgia, and we have a great recruiting class, but if they ever played Duke, it wouldn't be a contest who I would cheer for. It's pretty hard to just stop cheering for a team that I've been following since I could walk. It makes it easier going here since we willl never play Duke or anything. My first choice was Maryland. Now that would have been tricky.
