Didn't get much considering how much they gave up last season. I guess they had to do something otherwise he walks for nothing at season's end.

    Teixeira: .283 avg, 512 slg%
    Kotchman: .287 avg, .448 slg%

Teixeira is a better hitter, but Kotchman is pretty good, much younger, and won't be a free agent until 2012. The Braves did very well with this trade, as I'd rather have Kotchman than Saltalamacchia and Andrus (although giving up Neftali Feliz in that trade to Texas was killer).

Listening to the the Phillies and Cardinals game and they are reporting Texiera is looking for a 10 year deal in the off season. Dude, you are good but not that good

Tex knows that his options are limited for the kind of money he has in mind. The Angels, Dodgers, Cubs, Yankees, and Red Sox are about it. Baltimore is a place he would consider based on the fact he's from the area but I don't think they will have the bucks. Atlanta has NO CHANCE of getting him back.

Jeter and Arod have that deal. If Tex explodes in the playoffs, don't bet against the Yankees doing something similar with him.

I agree. The Braves desperately need at least one starting picture and an outfielder for next year. Will there be any affordable free agents available at the end of the season to fill these needs.

I don't know that there is any such thing as an affordable free agent anymore. Starting pitching in particular is wildly overpriced.

If the Braves have enough sense to get rid of Hampton, Smoltz and Glavine, along with not signing Tex, they should have some money to spend. That is if they are willing to spend it.

With Hudson out for 2009 and Smoltz unlikely to return, I don't think the Braves can realistically compete regardless. They should be looking more at 2010 when some of their pitching prospects might be ready. But since it's Bobby's last year, they'll try to do something. Glavine will probably return, but I don't think they'll go after someone like Lohse or Burnett, much less a Sabathia or Sheets. Someone like Carl Pavano who has something to prove could be worth a small monetary investment. Randy Wolf is another possibility depending upon how much he wants.
