looks like the patriots have agred that he will not be back next season. it also looks like he will be traded by this friday.

if you're the panthers, is he worth a no. 3 (the patriots asking price)?

moose, glenn, walls, jeffers, smith? AND a running game...

    hmmm.

Not for a 7 million dollar signing bonus, which is what he's asking for. He's got bargaining power if he wins his greivance.

if he wins his greivance. and DEFINATELY not for that much money. what if the money were about $1.8 mil/year? he's got to admit that he needs a fresh start somewhere and that he oes come with some risk/baggage.

i think his injury concerns would be too great for me anyway.

That was my second thought. Then you have the baggage of his substance abuse problems, attitude, ect. And we lose a day one pick. Too much risk. He might not ever play a down.

A few years ago, maybe. Now? Absolutely NOT! Terry Glenn has too much baggage (domestic abuse, drugs, etc.).

Sure, we could get Nate Newton to pay his signing bonus in Brownies!

I'll give it a big fat, NAH!

I would have to go after Glenn. I think he wants a chance to prove something and play in this game. "Hey Brian, how about a 5th and a conditional next year"? Everyone deserves a 2nd chance. Guys on our team now have just as much if not more baggage/injury issues and we're not ready to let them go just yet.

I say yes, he's worth a look at.

    Off-field clause

I believe that every UFA player that has had an off-field problem should be required to sign a contract that stipulates that on the event of any run in with the law (speeding, drug possession, etc. etc.):

THE CONTRACT IS NULL AND VOID, AND THE PLAYER MUST RE-PAY EVERY CENT TO THE TEAM.

Players with a "problem" college career should sign such contracts as well.

While we're at it, I think there should be a salary cap "ceiling" for players. Any money due a player over 6 million in one season is automatically converted into incentive bonuses.
