yeah, a lot of people really seem to need to try and pin their favorite anti-Christian pet peeves on Tebow but he isn't one of those bullshit lukewarm Christians that most of us "believers" are. He's the real deal. Sorry Buck, but however old he is chronologically has no bearing on his evolved level of faith. He doesn't "have it wrong". Choosing to believe in God and that Jesus Christ as part of the trinity is God in the flesh who suffered and died for our sins is no more a fantasy than the cynical belief that we are all on our own and are not much better than monkeys that we evolved from. Should a person choose to learn life lessons from the Bible that has stood the test of ages, or monkeys?

it's neither my complaint nor my statement, but no, of course he never said exactly that. Nonetheless, this is an argument because of his religion one way or another, and not just a fairly universal statement that he's not a good quarterback.

 

as has been mentioned before, you don't need a "good" quarterback in the traditional sense to win championships. First that comes to mind is Dilfer and I would imagine that Tebow is at least as "good" as Dilfer. Check out their TD/INT ratios, and if tebow did not already rate higher on the leaderomiter than Dilfer i would be shocked. There have been plenty of less than great QBs that could effectively lead a team and consistently win. So the question is, what is the definition of a "good quarterback"

well, I disagree with that, and it's not that you or most are talking about how great the Broncos are for winning, you're talking Tebow. For that matter, Von Miller has made a much greater impact, and might be the next big defensive star. Is Miller getting a shitload of press? No. Is he much more interesting of a story in a football sense? Of course.

It's fine. He can be a Christian, I think that's great. I am. I bet Von Miller is, too. But that's not what this is about, is it? That's the thing that's annoying, to me. It doesn't matter whether he's a good quarterback, because that's not what people are interested in. They love or hate him based on something completely irrelevant to QB play.

As for definition of a "good" quarterback, without determining what is meant by good, I'd suggest that it's somewhere above completing 50% of your passes when you're not really going downfield much.

 

A Teebow led team has beaten the teams they should have beaten. Granted those teams are either pathetic on offense or have lost all their offensive weapons

Congrats on them winning games they should have won. A lot of teams don't (see panthers) I could give a shit if he is Christian or he is a Pagan worshiping cacti, long term I just don't think he is a NFL caliber QB. Teams will figure him out like they always do and I just don't think his skill set will change

 

I would not agree with the first part. He was playing and playing well back when Orton was the quarterback. Even though Tim is not the kind of quarterback Fox would want, he's the perfect example of why Fox ball works. He doesn't turn the ball over, he's pretty good at generating first downs, and he keeps the other offense off the field. Denver's defense didn't coincidentally get good when Tebow took over. They're still just as flawed, they're just not as exposed.

I think a lot of people including myself are happy to see him do well because ESPN and other media outlets went out of their way to shit all over the guy when he had barely played. I've never seen any first or second year player take the kind of unrelenting media abuse that Tebow did. And for the record, I think Tim's race has more to do with that than his religion. The media just isn't used to thinking of white athletic quarterbacks that way.
