I get your point Purrsy but the media is only pushing him because he is so polar and he's a big time story for them. The higher they can put him on the pedestal the farther the fall. They would love nothing more than for Tebow to pull a Tiger and i guarantee you they are all on the edge of their seats waiting for any opportunity to throw the kid to the lions.

    Maybe...

Either way, Tebow got it done yesterday. What a hell of a game, too. Good for him. And good for Foxy.

As much as people want to make bullshit excuses, it's true. Magnus' comments earlier in this thread are an example of how much people hate the kid because he does talk about his religion. Eli Manning completed 48.2% of his passes in his first season (52.8% in the 2nd), but did he face anywhere near this type of criticism? No. Michael Vick had a very similar QB rating and TD/INT ratio in his second season, but he was celebrated. Vince Young completed 51.5% and had 13 interceptions along with 11 fumbles over his first fifteen games, but he didn't have to deal with anything like this.

Black athletes disparage Tim Tebow because he's a white athletic quarterback, while the media bashes the shit out of him because he's openly religious. Again, he's never going to be a great passer but the kid can play. Those who say he's just a running back or that he shouldn't be in the NFL are clowning themselves.

Almost every draft analyst said he would suck and was a wasted first round pick. ESPN had tons of people saying he couldn't play quarterback. John Fox & John Elway even criticized him to the media (and before anyone makes up bullshit about that being normal, show me any other coach & GM who have criticized their young QB to the media). Many of the fans are on Tebow's side because he's inspiring and he wins games, but the media has undeniably been heavily against him, and the NFL establishment types have been universally against him.

damn rake, you're trippin on that shit, and speaking for someone you haven't even met i bet. you ate that from the media. i here what you're saying, but you don't really know about him or his motivations. only he does.
he played well yesterday in my eyes, in a playoff game. its an underdog story. who doesn't like one of those? just like a division foe qb getting his ass handed to him in the playoffs for the third straight time. who wouldn't like that?

I've had a man crush ever since I saw that ESPN pre-draft special where they showed behind the scenes on just how hard he works. Anyone who puts that much effort into football immediately earns my respect.

I think Tebow compares well to Vince Young (prior to his insanity issues). The media was in love with him before he went psycho. The only thing new about the style of play that Tebow has is that he is white.
