Remember I did concede Brand being the best of all UNC/dook players this year.

Yep, Mullins won an ABA Championship as a sixth man on the Warriors with Rick Barry.

back to the start of this thread--saying Felton and May are no good not even 20 games into their careers is completely unfair. I would think you would allow them to play as many years as, say Magette or even brand and THEN make the comparisons.

I also noticed you left out Wil Avery in the discussion (but the same argument could be made about Joe Forte as well).

    All in time, young grasshoppah...

I'd like to believe you, but I think you are mistaken.

Without doing any research, there are two 'known truths' in the NBA. First is that Danny Ferry was the first Duke player to win an NBA Championship. Second is that the Spurs were the first ABA Team to win an NBA Championship, and that the Pacers were the first ABA team to even make the NBA Finals.

edit--After a small amount of research, I'm seeing the 75 Championship was indeed an NBA title. Why were they forgotten as an ABA team?

And there's the answer, you're absolutely right and I'm a fucking idiot :banginghe

Golden State was always an NBA team - they used to be the Philadelphia Warriors - back in the Chamberlin days

and I remember that series because I was a Bullets fan - and I hated Barry and those sissy underhand free throws and they swept the Bullets

Woah, and I thought I was older than most here ;)

I can't believe I had the brainfart of the Warriors being an ABA team. I think it had to do with the terrible colors and logo, although as big a Wilt fan as I am you'd think I'd put two and two together.

I did some research awhile back on Mullins because my dad was a huge fan. I think the "No dookie has ever won an NBA ring" mantra had infiltrated my mind and I just assumed seeing Mullins there that they must have been in the ABA at the time.

Good thing announcers don't research bullshit before they spout it. And just as a pre-emptive strike, it wasn't "No Coach K player has a ring," it most definitely was "No dookie has ever won a ring." Bald face liars, all of them.

Solarte, don't compare May/Felton to Brand. He won rookie of the year, he was pretty damn good from day 1. I'm not one to write off May/Felton at all, but that comparison is setting both up for failure. 34/13 tonight btw.

I meant no disrespect to Brand at all....just sayin, let Felton and May get some time in the league before comparisons....Granted, I KNOW Felton or Brand won't sniff R.O.Y., but just want them to get a fair shake....thats all.

    Oh, and happy belated birthday.
