Ease up, head case. If your going to be caustic, don’t start whining when I return the favor.

Henning called an ok game, this time.

With that said, Gruden does plug away, and calls games to win (though I think the offensive genius bit remains to be seen). And he is winning. When he finds things that are working, he generally does not go into a shell just because he has a 3 point lead in the middle of the third QTR.

    point taken.

the comment wasn't directed at you. just all henning bashers in general. still it was rather caustic of me and you have my apology.

I don't know what to think of Henning. He seems to try to keep teams off-balance. But sometimes his playcalling just seems plain weird.

I don't have a good understanding of offensive systems. Do you think his system that can win if he has more talent? If so, what talent would be the keys to his offense? and how great would that talent have to be for him to win? what positions could you get by with just having an okay player.

On surface, he seems like he could win with just a bit more talent and the defense we have.

I personally liked the WCO. Shows what i know.

One other question. Who is responsible for clock management near the end of a half? It seems like we are always waisting several precious seconds before calling TOs, etc.

I don’t think the system is the problem. It's all about talent, and utlizing that talent correctly.

I’d like to see more of the good bits of it, more motion, more H-back. Hoover is underutilized, IMO. We aren’t finding ways to get Moose involved. I know, he needs a QB who can get it there, but I’d like to see a few more attempts at touches in some form, be it an end around or a screen.

Anyway, my beef with Henning is success scares him, IMO. It's almost as if he says, oh shit, that worked. Let's not fuck up. And then he calls a sweep to Lamar that loses 5 yards.

For what it’s worth, with the right people and gameplanning, I still like the WCO. It just didn’t match our talent, and we didn’t try to run out of it enough.

Henning and the QB are in charge of time. It’s been a problem

I can see that point. It happens often. I have, in giving him the benefit of the doubt, attributed it to him trying off keep teams off balance and a sense that we don't have the talent to keep going to the same well too often. It's like as soon as we start having success with the run or vice-versa the pass, he changes up. Maybe he sees the defense adjusting and he tries to take advantage of it. He has success rolling Fasani out a couple times and then we don't see it again. Maybe it's because Fasani nearly didn't get up. But too, when he does call a good play we seem to have a habit of fucking it up. He had Walls wide open for a TD and we didn't get it there. Just missed Moose for a near TD. In previous weeks, dropped balls.

but we sometimes are waisting time when the defense is on the field. it would seem that the coaches on the sideline would have more input.

in terms of talent, i would think that the offensive line and RB would be the most critical elements in his system, next would be a couple of legit deep threats that can catch.
