Cool. I'll play. Short story. I was on statins for my high cholesterol. Had to get off of them because they were screwing up my liver bad. Doctor wanted to try a different brand. I said, well, what about diet and exercise. He kind of winked and nodded. Sure, that works for some people. We could try it for a month.

Needless to say I was pissed. Being pissed turned into being motivated. That doctor visit was Dec. 10 2009.

    I weighed 209. I'm 33 years old and 6 foot tall.

I started to read. And learn. At first I just changed my diet. No more fast food and junk food.

I joined the YMCA at the beginning of January and started working out. Found out about high intensity interval training for my cardio and how to tone muscle , not build it.

Learned complex carbs are better than simple carbs. Learned even complex carbs are not my friend.

Discovered cholesterol and saturated fats are not the devil. Started a high protein high fat, low carb diet. Tons of vegs, fruit and lean meats. Real food, NO, NO, NO processed foods. Got rid of heart attack in a tub called margarine and switched to real butter. If your doctor is still telling you margarine is still better because it's low in sat fat read up on how they make that crap and decide for yourself.

Went to the doctor yesterday finally. On my own I've reduced my cholesterol from 253 to 203. My triglycerides went from 315 to 60. My doctor told me I was still over 200 but we would hold off putting my back on statins for now. I told him we were not doing anything. He could recommend and I would decide.

Oh yea, I'm now at 181 pounds.

My goal is to look like Brad Pitt in fight club or at least see what my abs look like not covered by gobs of fat.

199 this morning. If I break 200, I'm calling my doc to get back on the program.

Well not completely sure what the deal is but....the scales have pretty much stalled for a bit...going to have to get to a gym or something. But, I just bought a pair of pants that was again a size smaller than what I was wearing so..the scale can say whatever as long as my butt is getting smaller, I am good with that.

so from a size 22 to a 14 in little over a year...I can deal with that.

HB, how often did you work out when you were losing your weight? Did you go to the gym every day or alternate days or some other schedule? How long did you spend in the gym each session?

5 days a week. Usually did 35 minutes on the elliptical, some kind of ab work, and 2-3 lifts.
