Yeah, you are probably right. The last time I weighed 230 (12-13 years ago) I had a bit of a gut but nothing major and it wasn't really all that noticeable like it is now. If I got down to 220 I would be pretty svelte. We'll see, I have a long way to go. I would like to get down below 300 by mid June when we go on vacation.

I weighed myself when I got home and I was 326, that first 12 melted off due to me quiting the sodas and just drinking water, I believe.

I hope that the low carb diet works well for you. I am kind of doing a variation of it but I am concentrating more on reducing my fat intake and eating more fruits and vegetables with a well rounded diet. Oh, yeah and walking at least 5 days a week for 30-40 minutes. Just started the walking last week and next week I am going to start a strength program to keep my muscle mass from disappearing.

That first week was a nightmare because I was hungry all the time and the kids had little snacks and what not around but I just loaded up on fruits and veggies and that helped me get through that first week and each day has gotten better since but it is still tough.

I am sure you can do it just hang in there and have plenty of fruits and veggies handy (I can't believe that I am saying this).

My weight has been up since I got married and had kids. I guess that happens to a lot of people though.

Good luck with your diet. There are some good people here to chat with about it. Hasbeens lost over 100 pounds recently. One of our most popular members passed away a while back partially due to some weight related health issues.

I am down to 235 today. I have been up and down a lot but I started this at 250 so I am pretty happy to be at 235.

    Way to go!

I weighed in just a little while ago at 325. Only one pound since last week but I guess that is better than nothing. I am able to tell a difference in some of my trousers though. So that is cool.

It is amazing how much a little weight loss can be felt. 235 seems almost sleek to me right now. Imagine how 165 would feel.

Exactly! As foreign as that sounds now, when you get there, you'll wonder how you ever carried 250. It's weird, but kinda cool.

You need to drop about 75 lbs? Seems that'd be easy. Have you actually REALLY tried yet? Daily exercise WITH a diet that lasts for more than a couple of weeks?

This low carb diet I am on is working pretty well for me right now. Since I cut out all the sweets and most of the starch my appetite has really been reduced. I think that stuff was messing with my insulin and blood sugar levels. I need to add some exercise to the diet though. There is park near where I live that lots of people go to and walk and jog. Now that the weather is getting pretty maybe I will start doing that a few times per week.

Just curious, have you ever lost a lot of weight and maintained that loss for a substantial amount of time?
