tarheels vs undermanned nova thread

wow, watching the end of that game, i heard the theme song from the wonder years playing in my head for carowhina. this isn't a carolina/duke thing, but i've noticed in quite a few of these games this tourney that a coach, or even a crowd will start calling for something and bam, the ref will call it. i don't remember what game it was, hell it might have been carowhina's, but the crowd was yelling for a closely guarded 5 second call and after the guy passed it the ref called it. i know it happened with izzo last night. and i know that duke was the beneficiary of at least one make up call last night. refs need to let them play the game.

but, oh yeah, that wasn't a walk. watch every single fast break layup or dunk and that's the number of steps you'll get every time. i was thinking the same thing about maybe that's kharma for the chris webber walk. man, it would be great to see felton in the national championship game dribble down court down by one and throw the ball directly to the other team when the guys not even close and hear what you guys say then.

the Sportscenter broadcasters just got through counting his ONE, TWO, THREE steps.

my point is wossa is that why would you get extra steps on a fast break? you don't, and they don't call it. and he was running pretty damn fast across the lane. doesn't matter, didn't lose them the game.

 

you're right it didn't cost them the game.

But the point is, (that you brought up), that yes they almost always do give players an extra step when they are busting ass full speed down the wing on a fast break but not when they are driving across the lane from a standstill.

It was a close call but after looking at the replay the right call.

 

there should be no difference. but of course, i'm sure you'll want to argue with me about late game calls that go carolina's way. we've been arguing that for probably 4 or 5 years now.

they should just never call walking unless they take four steps

 

consistency would be nice. that's all i'm asking. if you can have 3 on a break, why can't you have 3 sprinting across the lane. had this happened on the other end, you wouldn't be singing the same tune.

 

I got a few. I've taken so many I can't remember when I took them all. Anyway, here's some from Thursday night and Friday and Friday night. I think, I was drinking heavily. Sorry if I posted them before.
