Dumping a coach with 2 years left only owed 5 mil is very plausible

Rivera is 6-11 with a highly-paid and reasonably talented roster. It's a results business. You obviously don't fire him tomorrow, but it's also ridiculous to not criticize him or question his future.

I don't "dislike" him, per se. My issue is more organizational. I don't like that our owner and GM are obsessed with style points. Games like today are an inevitable consequence of that.

criticism is cool. Worrying about week 18 in week 1 is allright I guess but reminds me of when Thelt would start threads interested in the draft about now.

Players take on the personalities of the coaches. Ours is a passive statue. Cowher with good coordinators would be fun

People wanted Fox gone during his rookie season, and he wasn't coaching a team with a gagillion dollar payroll.

Week one in the NFL always has upsets, teams look like shit that won't later. And some look like shit and will stay that way. I expect us to get better, and I never expected Super Bowl anyway. Or even playoffs for that matter. Still, today sucked hard.

Meatpile and some of the others were already saying this about Rivera last season, though, so it's not a knee-jerk response. I'm not sure if I agree about making a change, but I can see the things they're complaining about.
