Regardless he was an incredible football player and rightly elected into the hall of fame. He may act in a certain way at times that can cloud the judgement of him by others but ultimately, dude has a great heart and always has time for genuine fans.

 

I think he made himself an easy target. I also think he's right to give the finger to the press. The idea that every team he played on had 52 hard working, humble guys pulling in one direction, with TO as the outlier, was always a cartoonish narritive. I've enjoyed watching various members of the media clutch their pearls over this.

 

TO is up here now trying to make a CFL team at 44. Sad

 

TO was always a malcontent as a player.

He was a malcontent for not getting into the hof sooner.

And now as a member, he's still a malcontent.

Being a great player should get you into the hof. Being a good teammate is part of that too.

But simply being a malcontent or dumbass off the field should not affect hof status or consideration short of being a criminal or similar.

 

As much as I hated hearing it then, they were playing numerous clips of "I love me some me" which cracks me up now.
