You are going to have to do better than "congressional budget office". You make a very specific claim, that the money spent by the federal government to aid the poor only amounts to 2% of the budget, you need to back that up to have any credibility. Anyone can spout off stats like that but when the truth is revealed you are giving a slanted and misleading statistic.

As far as religion, the God I know does not care as much about a person's economic status as he does about their soul. The message of the gospel is not, go out and force wealth redistribution. Certainly charity towards the poor is encouraged in both the old and new testaments but it is hardly the primary focus.

I would argue that the way in which you wish to treat the poor, with your endless unearned assistence is actually very harmful to them. You create a mindset of dependence. They no longer try to support themselves and eventually do not think they are capable of it. Weaning them off of the "gvernment tit" is the most compassionate thing you can do for them. If you look at the Katrina refugees who were unable to evacuate, you will see the vast majority of them are healthy and able to work. In large part they were not the classic old person in a wheel chair who needs food stamps to live. They were young people who could take care of themselves. I want to see those people rise to the middle class and be able to hold their heads up high and be proud of who they are. You want to give them more free money and keep them where they are, as miserable modern day serfs.

You can frame it anyway you want but the truth is that the poor do not have an unfair tax burden. If you factor in what they get back from the government in assistence most of them do not contribute anything at all to the tax base. The earned income credit assures that many get back more than they pay in to start with.

As far as tax loopholes for corporations, it is hard to comment without some specifics, but corporations really mean one thing - JOBS. When you help or encourage industry you help job growth. Corporations are not some evil force that seeks to rape us of our economic resouces, they are the source of employment for most americans. Corporations are an integral part of capitalism and I think on the most basic level that is why you seem to hate them.
