Anyone know much about this game? I'm a big fan of the Command and Conquer games and saw this last night for the first time. It looks great on the box and I thought it may be from the Command and Conquer line based on how it looks, but saw today that C&C has a new game coming out on 3/26.

actually, supreme commander comes from the guy who did total anihiliation and ta: kingdoms. he formed his own company (gas powerd games) and did dungeon seige and finally supreme commander.

i've played it. it's a serious system hog. not very much like c&c, more like ta.

it's got some nice features (huge units, infinite zoom) but also some quirkiness that relates back to total anihilation -- you have a big mech dude who is your commander/builder; you don't accumulate endless amounts of resources, instead you have a production rate with a shallow reserve so you need to make sure you don't tip too deep into the negative (by building things) or you'll end up unable to do much till your builds are done; the rock/paper/scissors is a bit amped in my opinion: rocks absolutely destroy scissors, scissors shred paper, paper obliterates rock -- it's be nice if mismatched units at least stood a bit of a chance.

Never played TA, so hard for me to compare to that. Guess I'll wait 'til it drops in price some if I decide to get it. The new C&C, on the other hand, will be difficult to wait too long for.

    Sweet.

Think I'm going to download the demo for Act of War too. I had seen it a while back, but forgot all about it. It looks pretty good too. I just hope it's not like the the RTS I tried a few years back (can't recall the name). The cover said it was actually based on (or used in, I forget) US military strategy training. It sucked. Playability was horrible. Might have invested 45 minutes in it before tossing it in the "old games" pile.

act of war is pretty good, actually. it's a HUGE game -- 5gb. but i think that's because it has a lot of cut scenes that i frankly think are pointless (cept the one that plays while installing which is cool cuz installs are boring anyway). there's an expansion that's another 7gb(!) which adds some units and maps, too.

i like these games for lan parties, but i can't stand the fact that they all are geared towards 8 players maximum. wtf. age of mythology had like 12 players max and that came out years ago. why can't they make a game that's more than 8 players? i wanna play 5 humans teamed up together and that leaves only 3 ai slots.

what's even more obnoxious is the squad based tactical shooters (rogue spear, rainbow 6, etc) that cap out at 4 players. again, i want to have 5 people play these things. WHY THE FUCK IS RAINBOW 6 A FOUR PLAYER CO-OP GAME?!?!?!?!?!

Picked up Supreme Commander - Forged Alliance.

After a couple hours I only have two words.....It sucks! (IMHO, of course.)

There is absolutely no comparison between it and the C&C games, or Act of War for that matter. Now, if I could only get Act of War - High Treason to work correctly on my Vista system.
