I've caught a few of these, but I decided to download a few of them... this is a pretty damned good show.

It is. I didn't really catch on to it until about the last month or so of the season. It is fun to watch.

My problem is this comes on at the same time as My Name is Earl and The Office. I like both, and now that I'm hooked to both it looks like the DVR will be kicking in high gear this fall

yeah, my wife insists on watching it and so we've gotten into the show.

it's okay, but i think they're trying to push too much of the family shit into the thing. just concentrate on the creepy stuff more and leave out the family melodrama. bleah.

nah the family melodrama crap keeps it a little more "real"

Also I think in the end Sam will be a major key in this whole thing. I'm wanting to see him develop his powers a little more. I'm thinking the Demon is either wanting to possess all the children that have those powers, or either destroy them all because he realizes they are the ones that will be able to stop him.

when i first sat down to watch the show, i asked my wife if sam was "the psychic one". it took them a while to reveal it, but yep. i get the impression the writers weren't sure they'd go down the father/demon route and so the first 5 or 6 episodes were purely episodic and not the serial drama that's unfolded for the later half of the series.

the family stuff is just too poorly done to interest me.

i like the idea of a larger story, but three grown men running around getting in touch with their emotions as they fight supernatural forces is a bit too much to handle.

they should focus on the supernatural and keep the brother dynamic, but lose the father dynamic. they should play into the divinci code hype and set up a very loose affiliation of hunters around the country... which they kind of did, but make it so that these hunters sort of share information and tasks a bit more -- perhaps being a sort of "templaresque" brotherhood that dates back a few hundred years. let the brothers sort of grow into the role of "officially sanctioned" evil hunters. you could have some folks be way into the tech stuff, others be very backwoodsy, others occulty, or bookish, or militaristic, etc. you'd get a lot of potential for variation and you'd get an easy way to give the brothers tasks without them "just stumbling" onto a supernatural situation.

I'm thinking the father may be killed off now. It makes for a thing where the brothers are all alone having to fight off the demons. I agree the father isn't really necessary anymore.
