Going to the zoo in the winter on the week of the Super Bowl would not be high on my list of things to do that week. Besides I remember hearing that number of hotels would also be a big problem if the SB came to Charlotte.

Probably because Charlotte led the league in attendance for quite a while back then. Plus the game is INDOORS.

Not necessarily a bad idea, Dukey, but I doubt it would ever be approved by the league.

You can not even begin to realize the money a Super Bowl brings to a city.

I don't know about Charlotte getting a SB. I would say it has a snowballs chance though. ;)

A Super Bowl In Charlotte would be nice (that's why Ericcsion Stadium seats 73,000+), but its not going to happen because . . .

    1) Weather here is too iffy . . . If you need any more proof, look outside right now :) . . . Some January's could be like summer here, other years its cold . . . Unless a psychic could guarnatee the league that it will be 60 degrees at kickoff, its not going to happen

    2) No dome on Ericcsion . . Perhaps one day some temporary tent/roof could be placed on it, but the thing is, you would still have a problem with #1 because . . .

    3) The NFL & its sponsors want nice weather . . They weren't happy with the last one in Atlanta because it was too cold to do all of the outdoor stuff (golf, recreational activities, etc.) sponsors and the league like to do on Super Bowl week . .. . Yeah, yeah its going to be in Detroit in a couple of more years at FORD FIELD (which I've seen is a nice dome stadium) but I think odds are better than not that the weather is going to stink that week and the league/sponsors are going to gripe about why did they host it there again (See video clips of Super Bowl 16-A blizzard hit the area on Game Day and you saw tons of folks driving to the Silverdome with tons of snow on the ground). I think the only reason why its being held there is because Detriot Lions owner William Clay Ford has owned a team forever and its a favor to him (maybe if Jerry Richardson gets into his 80's & 90's, they will throw him a bone and give him a Super Bowl :) !!!!!!!)

    4) With the 700 room WESTIN Convention Center hotel getting ready to open (cross your fingers, breakout your rabbits foots :D !!!!!!!) I think we would have enough hotel rooms to pull it off now. Plus all of the media/fan fest activities would be held at the Convention Center next door. Fans/media/players/sponsors could hangout downtown at the area bars and take the trolley line down to Southend as well. Nightlife wise, I think we might be OK in that arena (I can remember going to UNCC in the late 80's/early 90's when Atlantic Beer & Ice was the only bar Uptown . . . The Queen City's nightlife options have improved 100% over time)
