I don't see WV, SC or Georgia being good academic fits, not that SC or GA would ever leave the SEC. With the exception of FSU (and maybe MD), the rest of the ACC are considered to be top notch universities in their signature fields.

Who we kidding? All this talk about "academic fit" is ludicrous as it all comes down to money. Now, if we're talking Holy Cross and Brown, yeah maybe, but not when talking about major BCS schools.

    Agreed

My question is since Texas is going the Notre Dame route with their own TV deal (which I can't blame them for) what network gets the say the Oklahoma/Texas game if the Big 12 is on ESPN and Texas has a deal with Fox for instance.

Yes, but football is king when it comes to TV money. This collection would not have an automatic BCS bid, and it's television deal would be horribly low (in the C-USA / Colonial range). No incoming $$ = no facilities = no recruits. See : Temple, UMass

I don't think Texas gets to negotiate it's own television deal, I think they only get to start their own network, something like the Big 10 Network.

The latest rumor has Memphis and UCF going to the Big East, which would give them ten football schools, but 18 basketball schools. How would that possibly work?
