Should the sermons keep their focus on politics, End of days, and other things. Or should they occasional hit topics with health concerns, such as Gluttony

I personally don't think any sin is any worse than any other. I would prefer my sermons to speak to sin in general rather than specific sins if they are going to be about sinning although I prefer sermons about grace and the like.

However, if certain sins are relevant or in the news then maybe they can be used because they would certainly hold the people's attention.

I walked out of church one Sunday when my pastor brought up politics.

If Churches as a whole made obeisty an issue, what would america's obeisty rate be? We Know the church can make an issue out of abortion. For that matter (an I smoke 2 cig's a day), Is smoking a sin? It's not stated in the Bible, But is there any indirect support or non support of smoking

Edit: If they did pick on smoking would attendance drop

Churches as a whole make sin an issue and yet sin still exists within the church. I like to think it has some effect and it most likely doesn but in the end no church is going to wipe out sin.

As far as I know the Bible doesn't address smoking there are some references that pertain to not willingly harming yourself.

Churches pick on things that most Christians would love to do everyday. Personally, I would love to bang as many women as possible before I die. My church says that is wrong. I still go.

Would picking on other sins besides Abortion benefit society as a whole greater then the abortion issue?

So if they picked on over eating ever sermon for a while, you'd still go. . . But what do you PREDICT the effect on society would be. . . Would we have less health concerns regarding obseity . . I'm just saying it would be interesting if the church dropped the abortion issue for 5 or so years and focused somewhere else, would society benefit more? Damn I'd like to see HB two cents on that one

Same. And I've come close at a couple of rock concerts, even if I agreed with the band. Just not the place.

I think there are definetly DEGREES of sin. There are scriptures that point that way. I wish I could quote them now but I can't.
Also I like sermons to touch on different subjects at different times.

Churches would be doing a disservice to God and to the innocent babies if they "dropped the abortion issue". You can choose whether or not to overeat and then you pay the price for that decision. Unborn babies do not get any choices.
