Now he is just a footnote on the roster of the worst team in nba history.

I kept hearing they would amnesty Thomas but so far they have not. How long of a window do they have to pull the trigger on that? He will not do much if they keep him but if they amnesty him they really need to add another big man in free agency.

I think the amnesty passed a few days ago to use it this year.

My guess is they're thinking this year will be a threat to Amnesty Thomas for next year. Kinda like a contract year.

Diop and Carroll (still on the team) are in their last year and will be used as trade bait to add talent. Their expiring contracts will allow a team to free a ton of space going into the following year.

Amnesty is not a threat. Thomas would love to be amnestied because he gets all of this money plus whatever he can get from someone else, and he no longer has to play here.

You sure he gets both? I was thinking whoever he would sign with would pay the portion they agree to sign him for?

But either way, you are right it's not a threat to the player because they are getting paid no matter what. I think keeping him hopefully will be enough to motivate him that he performs enough if he is looking down the road of another contract. But he may be like, well I got mine now, I don't really care about more money later.

I think the Amnesty thing should have been setup differently either way, but again I think contracts should be incentive based beyond a base salary based on tenure.

If Thomas is here he will have every change to step up and do something. I thought we should have gotten rid of Diaw when we decided to give a long term deal to Thomas. No one will be keep Thomas off the court now but himself. If he were to step up and play to his talent level he would make the team a lot better.

Most likely though he will miss two thirds of our games with a pissy injury and then do nothing but b*tch when he is available.
