I've heard good things about the baking bags spud. I've never tried them but I know people that say they wouldn't cook a turkey any other way.

I like a pretty brown bird, you can rub just a little bit of paparika on him and it gives him a pretty mahogany brown color.

I'm with SY. Put something in the bird that will add flavor & cook the stuffing seperate.

You can't go past an oven bag to lock that moisture in - they're brilliant!

I read somewhere the other day - about `turkey fryers'? Apparently, people use them in the garage because they're always blowing up and causing fires. Anyway - has anyone ever used one? Are they good? How does it work?

The stuffing adds flavor to the bird and the bird adds flavor to the stuffing. You can't do any better than that.

I haven't used one personally but I've been around when people do use them. It's like the grill, the men have to do this job. It's cooking outside so whenever that happens the men take over.

It's a big deep fryer and you use peanut oil because it has a higher burning temp range. They are very good.

You can cook the stuffing with stock. Personally I don't think bread crumbs add much flavor to the bird like fruit and fresh herbs would. Just my opinion though.

If the stuffing was bread only I would agree, but I add lots of flavors to my stuffing. Butter, celery, onions, lots of sage. I like mushrooms too but a lot of people in my family don't so no mushrooms. But you can put just about anything you like in the stuffing. I actually think all the moisture in the stuffing helps keep the turkey moist.
