My girlfriends parents had their info stolen the other week. Her dad never uses his debit card, and the bank called wondering about a charge of 8 bucks to some place in California. After cancelling the card and getting new ones, it was found out that the number was attempting to be used somewhere in Europe, for a much larger charge. Her mom thinks that these people randomly generate numbers and try them for small amounts to see if they work before charging larger amounts to them. They are concerned about the same thing as far as credit rating is concerned. Is this how these schemes work?

In my case, my info had to be stolen from a company I did business with. My name and address was used in the fraudulent purchases.

I got some company and NO it's not a porn company charging my card $14.95 a month through US Air. I have told them to stop repeatidly. They haven't. I sent a letter to better business bureau and I got a form letter. I may have to change my bank account over this crap. You figure it takes someone 3-6 months to stop them from charging you and multiply that times the 1000s of people they are gigging for $14.95....by the time the credit bureau catches them....they are long gone and have 100s of thousands of dollars.

I need to figure out a way to run this scam...

I have been fighting these fools for months.....

I got this email today. I thought the company was a USAIR dividends miles company, but apparently they are a credit monitoring company. They were pulling my credit on a monthly basis and supposidly supply me with an up to date credit check. Never got any of that and honestly don't remember giving them my debt card. Looks like it's over now.....I hope.....I'm out right at 100 bucks...

You forgot to read the small print before signing, as usual.
