    1. Steve Smith will be out of Carolina quickly. He wants out and the Carolina Panthers will be happy to accommodate him. Don’t get your hopes too high as far as compensation because Smith is in his 30s. But the Panthers believe it’s time to let him move on. Owner Jerry Richardson believes Smith walked all over former coach John Fox in recent years. Richardson was dealing with some health issues for most of that time and regrets that he didn’t step in sooner. He wants to give new coach Ron Rivera a fresh start that doesn’t include any past problems.

    Per Yas.

Has Smitty said anything on twitter? I know a lot of Panthers are talking, but I don't even know Smith's twitter account name. Curious...is he being quiet?

Was interesting hearing Rivera say the WR's need to grow up. Was that just a recognition of their youth or a jab at Smitty.

He didnt mention him by name like Dlo either. Isnt his contract prohibitive of a trade tho. A 32 year old due to make 10 plus mill the next two years.

Seems it would be a good move just to get that off the books (if there is a sal cap) and invest in someone younger snd taller, hmm, maybe trade Smitty for one of those big SD WR's.

    Ah. Thanks, strat. Makes sense.

Celtic, I think he was talking about our young guys. That's the impression I got. I don't think Rivera would at all, be foolish enough to take a swipe at a guy who I think, we're being very careful with.

What's missing though, is Rivera mentioning Smitty in any conversation about receivers. Though, anyone can see it's obvious why not...

Thats kinda the thing tho, we have a 10 year or so vet under contract and he says the WR's need to grow up (which they do). Its like he's already gone.

Probably could have avoided all this by simply signing a decent veteran QB last off season.

    From that story:

"Smith is owed almost $15 million over the remaining two years on his contract, and it is virtually guaranteed no team is going to trade for him without first reworking his contract."

    That's a problem.
