I know we are supposed to post links to stories etc, but I get the USA Today delivered (free) and am typing up this story myself.

It was a bumpy weekend for the Magic and the city of Orlando. NBA Commisioner David Stern said at the team's tip-off luncheon Friday that if the Magic didn't get a new area, "then I think we'd have a problem."

It goes on, but what the fuck is that shit? Man if he had said that about the Hornets there's no way in hell I'd support the Bobcats. Is the commish looking at new arenas in Kansas City and St Louis for a team? I thought KC already LOST a freaking team? I'm pretty sure New Orleans already lost a team too? For that matter, Charlotte lost a damn team. I thought the commish should be involved in the health of the game, not individual franchises? Fuck Stern, and pretty much fuck the NBA at this point. That's a totally irresponsible thing for the commish to say in my eyes. If I was an Orlando fan, I'd say fuck your multi-million dollar ass! They mention in the article how much Sept 11 hurt tourism in Orlando, but go on to say that now is the time for a new arena!

I'd say listen here STERN. You've been commish how long? You've had 6 expansion teams in your tenure (before the Bobcats). With Orlando, that would be THREE that have moved! Maybe the problem isn't with the fans but with your jackass? Maybe you should have seen that these arenas would need to be replaced in 10 years? Either way, way to absolve yourself of personal responsibility and create markets of hate in Charlotte, Vancouver, and soon to be Orlando. Could have easily been Minnesota you fuckface.

This article seriously hurts me more than even the Hornets moving. To imply that the LEAGUE has a "serious problem" because a city is reluctant to build a new building, WHAT THE FUCK?? Go to hell Stern. Take your fucking league with it.

That's the link. Too bad USA Today wants to scan my PC to look at the article. Anyone who isn't using Peer Guardian, damn I feel sorry for you, and especially hope you aren't doing any illegal shit on your PC. Otherwise everytime you go to ESPN.Com, USA Today, or countless other sites, they are scanning your ass, and COULD see any illegal files you have on your PC (including mp3s). Now, if you're totally clean, you've got nothing to worry about. If not, just respond to the relevant part of the article I have typed out for ya.

Stern calls for new Magic arena
    From wire reports
It was a bumpy weekend for the Magic and the city of Orlando. NBA Commissioner David Stern said at the team's tip-off luncheon Friday that if the Magic didn't get a new area, "then I think we'd have a problem."

Tracy McGrady had choice words for Magic officials during the weekend.
    By Phelan M. Ebenhack, AP

Tracy McGrady, traded by the Magic to the Houston Rockets, followed Stern on Saturday night by taking verbal jabs at Magic general manager John Weisbrod before the Rockets preseason game in Orlando.

Stern was in agreement with Magic ownership that it was time to replace 15-year-old TD Waterhouse Centre. The Magic claim their 17,248-seat arena lacks moneymaking amenities such as club seats and midlevel luxury boxes. But the terror attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, hurt the region's tourism-dependent economy and negotiations with local officials were shelved.

Magic President Bob Vander Weide said his office recently fielded calls from Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and preliminary talks have begun.

"This is the year," Vander Weide said. "This is the year to start talking. We've been quiet. There's going to be time to have dialogue and get the process started."

If an arena isn't built, the Magic might move. Kansas City and St. Louis, which are building or recently have built downtown arenas, are trying to land an NBA team.

"I think Orlando, its city government, the chamber (of commerce), its business community, understand what's at stake here," Stern said. "The NBA likes to keep franchises where they are. Situations usually work themselves out. Sometimes they don't."

McGrady insists Weisbrod was transferring blame by saying players failed to take responsibility for an abysmal season last year. The Magic finished 21-61, with a team-record 19 consecutive early losses. Weisbrod expressed concern over a lack of effort by the players. He took a parting shot at the two-time scoring champion after the trade, implying McGrady wasn't capable of leading a winning team.

"When you say things like (Weisbrod) said, that's just covering (yourself)," McGrady said. "I hated losing, but it just got to the point where we were losing so much, you kind of get used to it.

"Going into games, it was like, 'Oh, we're going to lose, so let's just get it over with.' That's how the mentality was with a lot of guys, not just me."

Juwan Howard was traded to the Rockets along with McGrady, Tyronn Lue and Reece Gaines for Steve Francis, Cuttino Mobley and Kelvin Cato.

Howard, who also sat out the preseason game, said he did not appreciate Weisbrod's comments about last year's team. "What he said was a slap in the face to all of us," Howard said. "I respect his opinion, but I disagree with it. Johnny Davis was with me at training camp, during the exhibition season and all 82 games, and he knows I cared big time."

Davis became head coach after Doc Rivers was fired three weeks into the season.
