I would modify the college system by doing overtime this way:

Each team would get 5 minutes and start on it's own 20 yard line. The kicking game is intact here. If it's still tied, then each team with get the ball with 4 downs from the opposing 20 yard line (red zone). Field goals are possible in the 2nd round but no further after that. Each subsequent round means you must go for touchdowns and 2 point conversions.

Each team would get the ball at least once, an interception can make all of the difference, especially in the first round where field goals can be kicked.

CBS reported that the league determined that the correct calls were made in regards to both the Timeouts and the running into the kicker, which you can clearly see in the replay. The correct calls were made, per the NFL head official.

So unlike last week, there will be no apologies to a losing team Sorry Cower.

can't agree more, Riddel. While the Giants did deserve to lose that game, and likely would have done nothing with the free play, they did get jobbed. The running into the kicker clearly happened, and rarely does that penalty affect the play, just like roughing the passer rarely affects the play it happened on. Doesn't mean it's not a just penalty, or that they should have won.

There was a lot more to it than that, granted he wasn't going to injure Nedney, but he did run into him. Nice job of acting on Nedney also. Again I point out the helmet to helmet personal foul against Schulters that put Pittsburgh in field goal range near the end of the game was a bad call. There should have never been an overtime if you want to talk about bad calls.

Steeler fan since the early 70's.

The call (running into the kicker) was correct. Acting job by Nedney deserved an Oscar, but the call had to be made.

The timeout "requested" at the end - Cowher tried to get too cute, and it didn't work.

He needs to quit whining, and as Riddel said, Bill's game management contributed to the loss. As did the burnt toast secondary...

    Note to Wild Bill:
    1. Draft some DB's.
    2. Cut the Bus.
    3. Work with the DC to disguise the blitz packages.

P.S. with that talent, Noll would have won the game. By 10. All Hail, Emperor Chaz!

With you there on "since the 70's".... That assessment is right on too. I'd also add that as creative as Mularkey can be with his bag of tricks sometimes, we are still AWFULLY DAMN PREDICTABLE on offense at times. Some of the play calls in the Cleveland game were downright pitiful. The play where we used the Bus on third and short right after halftime and the first INT on a post pattern early in that game come to mind. The Browns KNEW those plays were coming. Of course, we can convert two-point conversions 1000 different ways though.
