I was until North Carolina got the Carolina Panthers... being a NC boy born and bred... I had to go with the Panthers... I still like to see the Steelers do well.

My thinking was this was Cowlers year. I rode the 'Bus' in FF all last year, but I thing he's really hurt this time. He has still not fully recovered from the groin injury, and the Steelers can't do it without him. I think Betis might retire next year or the year after, and possibly they can start to look for his replacement in next years draft.

Plus with Plaxico in trouble again, atleast it's just alcohol and not drugs or weapons or both.

One of my fav Irish Pub down here is a Steelers backers bar. Steeler fans are pretty good people. Except for this one loud drunk ass bitch, I have a goodtime there with those guys.

you know things suck for sports in general when you have to clarify

  8. Wolvie, I've been a Steeler fan since I was but a wee tad living in Western Pennsylvania. Die-hard Panther now, but I still root for Pittsburgh - and the ONE time I rooted hard against my Steelers was the "snow bowl" when the Panthers went north in search of playoffs - and came back to earth courtesy of Fred's fumble at the 1, and the weather...

    The good:
Ah, the days of defending Bradshaw's intelligence, Franco and the Immaculate (my Christmas present in '72), the OL playing in short sleeves in the middle of winter, Swann's grab over Marc Washington, Jackie Smith's drop, in the '79 bowl, the team running when the 3rd quarter expired - while the Lambs walked it...Donnie Shell separating Earl Campbell from his helmet...an undersized middle linebacker from a small school in Ohio...the REAL Steel Curtain...FOUR Super Bowl victories...only knowing two head coaches in my Steeler lifetime...

    The bad:
Ernie "Fats" Holmes and the incident with the Ohio State patrol, Carlton Haselrig's meltdown, Gabe Rivera's accident when driving while impaired, the home crowd cheering when Bradshaw was carted of the field after being driven into the ground, head-first, by Turkey Joe Jones of the Cleve Brownies...Bradshaw's career after the arm injury...any game that Mark Malone, Cliff Stoudt or David Woodley played...Walter Abercrombie...problems with steroids (Steve Courson, Terry Long, etc...), Neil "Cowboy" O'Donnell...
