and please show some thought. If you could pick a player other than the obvious A-Rod Who would you pick. It would have to be an all around player, hits, defence, home runs rbi's... Multi position would be nice. If I were to start a team Two names come to mind. Todd Helton and Yankee 2nd baseman Soriano. Todd Helton has the sweetest swing and does everything mentioned above (minus multi position) Gives you everything, kindof like a younger less beat up version of Larry Walker. Who has sky rocketed faster than Soriano? Friends this guy is the real deal in probably the hardest city to play in. He does it all

I think there are a lot of ways you could go here. The guy you would want would have to be young, because if you're building a team it's going to take a few years to get good, and you don't want this guy to be declining while your team is still on the rise. I'm not sure if having a multi-positional guy is that important...if I sign a franchise player, I want him to have one spot that is his, not have to be moving around all the time. Pujols can play 4 spots, but for the most part the Cards still keep him on one, because it's easier mentally for a player to come to the park every day and know what he's going to do.

With that said, simply because they're younger than everyone else I could consider, Pujols and Soriano are definite candidates. So are Miguel Tejada, Vlad, Giambi, Garret Anderson, Andruw Jones and Lance Berkman. All in all, in an unlimited salary environment I'd want Vlad. But if money was an issue, I'd be looking for Andruw Jones. He's a great defensive player at a key position, hits for power and has good speed.

Snow I think you are right on with your two picks. Vlad by far with Andruw a close second. I think it Andruw had the right coach or situation you would really see him elevate his game.

Andruw Jones and Soriano would make you strong up the middle and then you build arond them.
