Cardinals | Could Get Starks - posted at KFFL (http://nfl.kffl.com)
6:20 PT: The Arizona Republic reports the Arizona Cardinals are in serious negotiations for CB Duane Starks. Starks’ agent, Drew Rosenhaus, said Starks was very impressed after last week’s meeting with the Cardinals. Rosenhaus said there is not a bidding war yet and denied that Starks is seeking a $12 million signing bonus.

Everybody's favorite free agent corner off the market. Oh well, Arizona might be able to do something with him, I'd kinda like to see the Cards do something one day.

I wish we'd take a look at Tom Knight. He should come cheap and is young. It would be nice to get a FA CB that is a legitimate starter.

I hear we're quietly looking at Corey Chavous.

Chavous is probably teh better of the two, but I ecpect he'll be wanting a decent sized contract, wouldn't you think? Cost is the only reason I never mentioned him.
I love Chavous' size and is attitude, solid cover guy and big hitter.

I like him too, just that he doesn't have the stats a guy like Davis did. I like defended passes.

my boy Rich went down to Aiken to investigate some stuff. I'll see if he finds anything out, think he knows Corey's uncle.

I don't think we'll make a move before the draft anyway.

    Ahh, I get it, Knight's a Hawkeye. :D

Actually, I thought Knight was HORRIBLY overrated coming out of college. Many called him the best CB of his class and I was dumbfounded by that. I went to a few Hawkeye games that year and he didn't really stand out good or bad, he seemed kind of vanilla. I figured him for a third rounder TOPS.
Even though I live in Iowa, I am not a huge Hawkeye fan. In fact, I am overly critical of Hawkeye sports. Presswise, that's all I really get to see around here. Iowa State Sports gets diddly for press and I'd say I like them better than Iowa...in part just to piss off all my gung-ho Hawkeye friends. I am a Penn State fan, first and foremost...JoPa is a GOD!
After seeing Knight mature in the NFL, I would have to put him on the list of guys the Panthers should look at. I want him here because of his play more than where he is from. He doesn't have great stats, but teams don't pick on him much either. He's one of those players that his true talent gets lost in statistics. He's not great, but he IS consistently good. I'd take that over most guys out there, anyday.
