ain't seen it yet. i might catch it in the theater, but probably not.

star wars was "episode 4" only because lucas wanted to make it feel like a serial. he just alluded to backstory for flavor and to pretend there was some history. when empire and return came out, he got around to actually making the history mean something (tho i doubt he ever really had more than a sketch in his head about what was really going on).

that's why these prequels suck so bad. they're just a really lame attempt to pretend like he had some big picture already worked out. i feel like everybody's acting in concert to create episiodes 4-6, paying no attention to actual personal motivations. like ob1 has some checklist in his head "gotta find anikin, train him, introduce him to padme, find clone army, ulitmately let anikin turn, find someplace really fiery to fight him... boy, i better get a move-on here!"

    bleah.

Although I like the story and all that, I gotta say that mystery of Eps IV and V still made those movies more fun to see. One of the biggest was imagining what in the hell Vader looked like under that mask.

while i'm at it... even in ep 1, padme is queen of naboo. then in ep 2, she's an elected official. guess it didn't make sense for freedom fighters to be fighting to be peasents ruled by a royal family.

there's still a queen of naboo...her time was up, the people liked her enough to elect her to a position in the govt. Kinda like Hillary Clinton.

See everybody gets all technical. Just enjoy the movie, it's si fi. I just went for the waring anyway. I could care less about a love interest deal like this one was. More Hans Solo and Chewbaka and less Darth Vader. Like I said, the space ships were far out.

That's not a plot revision at all. It was always planned when her character was developed. Seriously. Naboo queens are elected and serve a short term. And when Palpatine made his power play for the Chancellor's position, it left the Naboo Senate seat open & she was fresh off the job as Queen...

That was one of the things that did make sense.
