    Does anyone think Lucas has another Empire Strikes Back in him? Like Empire, the basic plot here should be dark, which was part of what made Empire so good (that and a lack of ebonics speaking Frog dudes or teddy bear versions of Wookies). I've just about given up hope for this go around. But this could potentially be a very cool movie if he backs off the special effects some and focuses on a kick-ass story and actual character development. On the special FX front - save all that CGI stuff for a few maximum effect oooh and ahhh scenes and get back to telling us how Anakin got so bad, aside from being a big selfish baby who either talks like an eighty year old anal rentative english butler, or a 4 year old who isn't getting his way.

    And make Obi-Wan even more of a smartass. I love the irreverent stuff. The first trilogy wouldn't have been any good without Han Solo. We miss ya Han.

    Anakin goes bad because of a number of things. His mother's death, Padme's death, his time in slavery, etc.

    Yes, but to date, Lucas has done a craptastic job of telling that story. He's been too busy playing with his CGI toys. This is a human story despite all the fantasy garbage. This movie is an excellent chance for him to maturely (why do I gulp when I say that) explore the dark side (bad pun) of human nature...

    I read a couple of the pre-star wars ep 4 books years back and Darth was a twisted Mofo who killed millions and ravaged worlds. He was a galactic Hitler or Stalin. Forget laying the foundation, Lucas hasnt even cleared the land for that particular building. So far he's developed the character of a petulant child, not a sadistic, hate filled fascist.
