It was described to me as an herbal form of Zoloft. Helps me with depression and shit.

B-12 is a vitamin. you can get the same from fresh fruits.

all the health food stores should carry 5-htp. And vitamins are usually one pill per day. Read the labels.

works the same way as zoloft, paxil, etc. it messes with your brain.

It is basically a new form of tryptophan…you may have heard that thanksgiving turkey makes you tired because turkey is a good source of tryptophan (which is an essential amino acid)…this is actually an urban legend because tryptophan need to be taken on an empty stomach with no protein present.

Back in the 80’s tryptophan was a popular supplement for the same reason this new stuff is. It was banned in the early 90’s because it caused thousands of people to get some kind of a painful blood disorder (don’t remember the name) in which 50 or so people actually died from. It was blamed on poor manufacturing and not the tryptophan….there’s debate over that however.

Tryptophan gets converted to serotonin…which is a neurotransmitter…hence it messes with your brain. Taking stuff to increase serotonin if you don’t need it isn't exactly considered a smart thing to do. I wouldn’t mess with my brain unless a good doctor told me to take it…not some people on a message board.

if you think you are depressed, why not let a doctor make that diagnosis...get you on the correct dosage of medication. taking too much of this shit is pretty risky.

5-htp will help you sleep, so that's not what you want.

take a good b-complex and you'll get some energy. one every couple of days or so (your body will tell you) should do you good. what your body doesn't need, you'll piss and poo.
