Wasn't St. Pierre a Hennings recruit?

If so, he could end up a guy Hennings might push for in the draft.
He looked GREAT tonight! Here's his numbers on the regular season:
    Passing: 212-372 2641 57% 15TD 17 Int
    Rushing: 63/111 1.8 1 TD

Not overly impressive number wise, but he does have solid raw skills. He'd need some fine tuning on his accuracy, but has a decent arm.
Personally, I wouldn't want this big of a project. However, if Hennings is still here, he might?

I agree McFly - although wouldn't grab him till 4th. He could be a good QB in time. Descent arm and solid all around. He is one of those guys that will hang around the NFL for some time and develop. He could be a starter down the road for a team with a lot of seasoning.

I could see him being there even in the fifth.

Banks, despite his numbers, will probably be available in the second...maybe even the third?

I could see us pairing this guy with a vet. Some scouts love his skills, TFY had him rated highly going into the season, but the numbers don't consistently match.

Both St. P and Gesser should be there for us with our first 4th. St. P is bigger with a stronger arm and TFY says Gesser doesn’t have a lot of upside and as of now and he looks like a backup at the next level.
Do any of you think that Kingsbury or Banks would be worth picking in the 3rd instead? I get the feeling that by draft time St. P will be grouped with Banks and Kingsbury as probably 3rd round picks. IMO any of those three could eventually be efficient running our offense. Comments?

I still like Gesser. He's got a stronger arm than Klingsbury IMO, and is accurate. I may be going overboard on accuracy, but I'm tired of wanting to see these guys like Weinke and Fasani throw hard into the dirt.

Agree. Accuracy and velocity are becoming huge to me. Arm strength is wonderful but it's more likely we can get velocity with accuracy than arm strength, IMO.

As far as the rest, I gotta stand behind what I've been saying. 4th round and later guys just aren't going to do it in my opinion. St. Pierre's interesting. Gesser is as well. Obviously I like Lorenzen. But I can't go into this season hoping another second day QB will get it, unless somehow we land some veteran QB who's going to be our guy long term, and I seriously doubt that.

And that's even if getting a 4th would allow us to go with a receiver, a TE, and a tackle in the first three.

There's arm strength (ability to throw deep) and there's arm strength (abilitity to get the ball there on time). I prefer the latter with accuracy, which none of this years QB's really have perfected.
Palmer and Leftwich are the closest to having it and I expect will be career starters.
Banks and Gesser, I picture as career back-ups who will get maybe a season as a starter at some point. More likely, they will be guys that come into games when needed and play well, but when gameplanned for will be limited, IMO.
St. Pierre I see as a guy with big potential, but he'll need some guidance to get there...if Manning and J-Lo come out (I expect both will) I'd put them both in the same boat.
Boller is a guy that could be a suprise, I'll wait and see what his combine efforts do for him.
Some guys no one really talks about:

*Brian Jones of Toledo - Don't know much about him but he did put up impressive numbers
    Passing: 270-382 3115 71% 21/7 153.7 Rushing: 76 382 5.0 5 TD
At 6'2 215, he would fit the mold of the new wave of shorter, more athletic QB's. I'll be watching for his combine reports.

*Cory Paus of UCLA - Was having a fine season til the injury.
    Passing: 109-184 1647 59% 10/6 145.8 Rushing 28/-88 -3.1 1 TD
Not much of an athlete, but a solid pocket passer. He'll have to turn some heads at the combines to get on the draft board.

*Jose Fuentes of Utah State - Played better than the numbers showed, didn't have much talent around him.
    Passing: 246-454 3268 54% 20/15 122.6 Rushing: 57/-104 -1.8 0 TD
He's on the outside lookign in, but I saw him against Iowa and there is some NFL potential there IMO. Despite the numbers, he is athletic and boast a 6'3 221 frame. Most of his flaws appeared to be in decision making, but when your to busy worrying about wich 300 pounder is going to make you his bitch next...your thought process becomes comprimised.

Of those, I'd say St. Pierre, Boller and Jones might surface as up and comers while Banks will slide a little due to his height.
