I've been waiting for nearly a month to say this...

I sit back and read all the Carolina fans talk crap and make fun (at our expense) about how guys kept rejecting the NC State job. Let's see how many of ya'll be laughing in a couple years when State comes knocking on Carolina's door. My gut feeling is that even though Lowe's record dosen't look ultra impressive, he's coaching his alma mater and I think that will be enough incentive to get this team where they need to be.

not only did you have to lower your standards from barnes, calipari, beilein....you also had to lower the job requirements in order to get one of your own to coach you. i guess he must be finishing out his degree at Phoenix Online....

I think Lowe will be good for State. Hes from the 83 team, so all of the older fans already have a bond. He should be able to recruit from the DC area, being thats where hes from. as far as his coaching record, hes taken over for some shit teams. Minnesota with no KGarnett(may have been a rookie) but hes never done shit except earn 200 million dollars. he went to the Grizz when they moved to Memphis. once again a shit team relocating and starting over. hes been in the NBA for the past decade+ as a head or an assistant coach. thats appealing to recruits, no matter what his record was.

If State fans dont expect too much he may finally be in the right environment. it certainly wasnt a pretty hiring process but they finally got somebody. and Im sure State fans are glad they got one of their own, just like UNC does and like Duke will almost certainly do. they got a coach now, so theres no point in dwelling how they got him. time to move foward

very good points brought up in your analysis. His NBA credentials dosen't mean a whole lot to me personally. Look at how many guys excel at the college level in coaching (Can you say Rick Pitino?) and come the pros are always decent at best? Being in the NBA circle and having connections may help in the recruiting process, but I think Lowe will have to establish himself to become a good recruiter. I think (and quite frankly hope) the State fans will be patient because if for nothing else because he is a part of the State family (something Matt Doherty never got to experience)

Good. Then we can agree that Larry Brown, Eddie Fogler, and George Karl all turned the Carolina job down after Gut retired. Thanks for clarifying that.
