I never knew the Spurrier/Harrington sentiment was so strong lately as far as us getting them as a pair. What's up with this? I guess that's why I don't listen to much sports radio.

Is tihs a plausible scenario? Washington's O isn't very good and I don't think we'd have gotten Del Rio or Lewis if he'd have come here. I also think Weinke would work well in that offense and that Peppers is better than Harrington, hands down, much less that it was a bigger need.

    I've never heard it.

Boneheads. Win 3 in a row, John Fox is God. Lose 3, shoulda gotten Spurrier (2-3) and Harrington (because Peppers sucks).

    Damn.

People must act like we don’t have a top 5 defense.

Peppers was worth it, hands down. He gets double teamed, and still has 6 sacks and an INT. He’s around the ball. Clearly the early favorite for Defensive ROY. Playmaker, and a rare one.

Think about how good he’ll be when he starts using those big arms better and actually knows what he’s doing.

Meanwhile, McKinnie is a hold out, Sims is done for the season, Jammer is nickel, and Harrington, upside notwithstanding, has thrown his rookie share of picks.

Yeah. The second round hasn't been so kind to us, what with Portis. I hope Foster isn't like Timmy.

  5. Spurrier offered several picks including this year's and next year's number one to the Lions for Harrington....I'm sure something similar was offered to the Panthers. However, what credentials does Spurrier have on evaluating NFL caliber QBs?

Harrington single handidly has made the Lions competitive now that he's starting. 3 starts and only one sack....he gets rid of the ball so fast there is no chance to sack him. Very few picks, most of the ones he has thrown have been tipped at the line. He makes great decisions, especailly for a rookie. He's got a touch on the deep ball that is unbeleivable.

I still don't think you can compare a DE to QB fairly, the dimensions of the two positions are worlds apart in their impact.

certainly. Harrington's good. But neither he nor Carr were above Peppers or Jammer, my #1 and #2 rated players. Neither were #3 either (Williams). When you can get the top rated player you look hard at him. When that player's at a need you really have no other choice.

Peppers has exceeded expectations and there is not a DE in the league I would rather have. This is a mute point anymore and anyone who said the Cats should've passed on Pep were flat out wrong. I wish they would admit it now, but they never will. We got the right player and, for that matter the right coach. End of fuk'n story.

Shocker - I was one of the naysayers before the draft who said we should have picked Jammer. I know I will probably be alone in saying this, but I was dead wrong. I also said that I would be happy if I was wrong, and I certainly am. Peppers has been unbelievable thus far, and his impact on the defense has been immeasureable. As far as he vs Harrington, you can't really go wrong either way. Harrington sure looks like a great one in the making. I think QB is the biggest impact position on any football team, so with that in mind Harrington may turn out to have been a better pick. But thusfar, I am thrilled with Peppers.

Harrington is looking better than Carr.
