C-SET, the regional sports and entertainment network created by Bobcats owner Bob Johnson, is ceasing operations on June 30.

The decision follows a year of criticism over the team's television decisions.

Many Bobcat fans were critical of the team's decision to air games on an extra-cost tier of cable television instead of on free TV. The team also aired 15 games on free television.

C-SET launched in October 2004 on Time Warner Cable systems throughout North and South Carolina. The network was available to digital cable subscribers and served as the home to 60 Charlotte Bobcats games during the 2004-05 season.

Ed Tapscott, Bobcats president, said the team will now pursue basic cable options for game telecasts on Time Warner Cable and other systems and will continue to air a minimum of 15 games on WJZY-TV UPN46 in Charlotte. C-SET also featured Charlotte Sting game telecasts, original programming, Carolinas-based college football, basketball and baseball game telecasts and coaches shows and minor league baseball. "We are now focused on ensuring that future Bobcats and Sting games are telecast on basic cable to reach as many fans as possible," said Tapscott said.
