it's still a concern, the DL. I've suggested more than once that because of Peppers' issues with contract, the team had their hands tied. But somewhere between giving up $80 mil for a part time pass rusher and doing nothing, there had to be a way to bolster our DL.

I'm glad that Fox and Hurney weren't panicked in their resolve for self-preservation that they didn't just outspend the next idiot for a DE (or a number of other spots), but I do wish we had done more and one of the three candidates to take over at that position didn't even make the roster.

Taylor is a younger and more aware version of McClover, and Johnson looks like a toss-up when it comes to pass rush so we have the option of becoming respectable, but we could've done more.

And to touch back on the FA class, I haven't made the parallels yet to the 2004 disaster signings, but it doesn't look like we're getting much help from them right now. Guard worked out because they got one starter, and I can't fault them for cutting the other two right now.

Colclough could've actually been a good signing if he were smart enough to catch a cab. Johnson couldn't beat out an incumbent, though, and both Toefield and Holt were signings that got trumped out by good drafting. The college scouting department has become a strength, and the pro department is a weakness. I did call for Koncz to go, and in a mock-up for another board before FA started he was my only firing (I "promoted" Hurney to a director role, hiring a new young GM and adding a different pro personnel guy).

One concern I have is that since we seem to miss on a number of pro prospects right now, is that the PP department also handles a good bit of the initial work on game scouting. The team in midseason form doesn't have the ability to do a lot of work for weeks ahead, while PP is already doing it anyway.

Probably got spoiled from sacking Carr in practice so often- lost their edge.

What, like the game where he dropped back 6 times, completed 2 passes, and got sacked 4 times?

For the pre-season his passer rating is 101.7.

Not to make more excuses for Fox but a QB who is the true leader of a team like Jake is here is a huge loss. I really doubt anyone would have gotten far out of line if Jake had been playing. He is the leader of the team and guys like Jenkins and Wahle would have a hard time disrupting things with him in control.

It makes me wonder how many personel decisions are made for reasons like this that never surface. Keyshawn maybe?

    You should stop right there.

He looked good for us last preseason.

    Lots of problems last year.

Fox doesn't need to try and sell anything. Its a bottom line business. Win or get fired. Sometimes win and get fired. Ask Marty.

His rating for the game Clay was referring to was 104. It's pre-season. If Eli goes down, the Giants are as screwed as we were last year.

Not as good as this pre-season.

    101 > 77

My concern is that this team can't coach QBs for shit.
