I don't like having players who only lift when it's manditory.

Sounds like Kris Jenkins was a real problem.

yeah, that's only marginally better than being a starting QB and missing a meeting. Also, Carr isn't our franchise player.

It's amazing some of the incredible players we've had though here, though not enough I guess, and none of them have been or likely will be franchise players - Smith, for instance has always been under contract, Peppers will be far too expensive to franchise, and some of our greatest were aged a little past that necessity - but we've franchised a roided up, liquored up punter and a right, wait, left, hold on, right, wait, left, umm, right, ok here we go, left tackle that doesn't put work into it and is more content with being average at minimal work than being good.

Maybe we'll franchise Hangartner next year so we'll have depth.

Wondering how close Fox came to replacing Trogo. Obviously something is changing there, with the simplifying of the D scheme.

The eight starting positions deal, what were they and what did we do?

    RB, okay, check.

#2 WR, okay, check (but they cut Key, which led to the problem in the first place).

C, check, I think. I was not a Hartwig fan.

The OT spots, I guess we've upgraded 1, not sure about both.

FS, I guess that's an upgrade but it is a rook we're talking about.

    That's 5 of 6.

LG was probably upgraded, I wasn't a Wahle fan either last year.

Not sure we've upgraded both DEs but I guess one could say that upgrading LDE wouldn't take a lot considering the year Pep had over there, but at the same time counting him as an upgrade over Rucker. Hmm.

So at least eight spots have been upgraded, probably more. What am I counting that I shouldn't?

the ideal there was it was supposed to be to help Beason and get things up to speed. If it's an adjustment for a week or two then that's not bad. The scheme has changed somewhat as well, but that's nothing they haven't done before, even in the middle of jdr's tenure away from c2.

I can't say if that was, in fact, a big deal, or just something they did to right the ship for the moment. I imagine if there was a concern Fox could've just let him go by now.

The players, huh? I wonder if he thinks that coaching had anything to do with it.

Each passing year, I lose a little more respect for Fox. I still love the guy and don't want anyone else coaching the team, but he's gotten away from that blue-collar attitude that he brought to the team in 2002 and now acts more like a CEO. I'm sure that comes with the job of being an NFL head coach, but I'm getting a little tired of hearing bullshit excuses like that.

players giving up, not going to meetings, and not having leadership is much closer to the PASSION y'all always joke about than it is to talent or execution

He seems to be a CEO without a clear vision of what he wants to do.
