I know how fragile managing jobs can be in professional sports. If Grady HAD taken Pedro out and then the bullpen had blown it. Everyone would be asking for his head for that decision too.

that's the thing Patti, the bullpen hadn't been blowing it. The situation was set up perfectly for the Sox, just has it had been in previous games they won: Embree comes in to get one or two lefties, Timlin pitches the eighth (he actually only would have had to throw to a couple batters) and Williamson takes it in the ninth. It worked three games. Why change? You go with your hot hand and in this case it was the pen. Grady chose instead to let Pedro makes the decision for him. Why do you pay someone to manage. After Jeter, Williams and Matsui got those three hits, it's a no-brainer (an apt phrase when talking about Grady). If the bullpen had allowed the tying runs in, I don't think Grady takes any heat at all. It would have been the right move and everyone knows it.

I hate Aaron Boone regardless, now forever a Yankees hero.

Grady Little is quite possibly the dumbest man alive. Everyone in America (besides the Yankees fans) was screaming "PULL PEDRO!!!" and yet the stupid bastard leaves him in to blow the game. What the hell was he thinking?!

On a sidenote...SDS, we had said the same thing about Brett Boone last night. How could he possibly have had nothing to say when his brother just hit the game winner?! He didn't say more than about 4 words the whole series...I hope he doesn't quit his day job.

I think Brett was a little worried about sounding like a homer pulling for his bro. Personally, I thought it would have added a lot if he had said things like "I taught him that" when he did something good - and "He must have learned that from dad" when he did something bad. Maybe Fox told him not to, maybe he did it on his own, I don't know.

On the Grady Little note, after further reflection and some sleep - and a little playtime this morning with Filip to put things into perspective - I still think that Grady Fucking Little needs to be fucking drawn and quartered. Fucking idiot.

I am gonna be bitter about this for a long time.

Very possible, I had thought that too...but still, if you're gonna be a commentator you gotta say something!

I'm glad we share this opinion. I was partially worried there after your "further reflection" comment...if you had said you felt sorry for the bastard I was gonna have to make fun of you for years to come. :D

you know nothing about baseball. shut your fucking mouth dickhead. grady and his son are friends of mine. nothing wrong with being pissed, but quit insulting him. He was a minor league manager of the year and set a record for most wins in a season in the minors. if you knew baseball, you could see the intracate moves he made all year, and probably overachieved. Your attitude is uncalled for.

Hey metro, Grady is a fucking idiot. If YOU knew anything about baseball you'd fess up to it, regardless of whether or not you chum around with him in the offseason. He blew the series.

It is fairly obvious that one of here is in absolute denial. As I said - I WANTED Grady Little to succeed, but he is out of his league. Did you watch many of the sox games this year? I am guessing he cost them at least 5 or so by bad management omves in the reg. season, and some of his moves in the ALDS made absolutley no sense (defensinve sub in the 6th inning, putting kim in in a tough spot, then yanking him quickly)

Everyone watching that game could see that Pedro was done - except apparently Grady and Pedro. He blew it. And if you can't admit that, then you are just plain blind.
