Thank God this series is over. If you didn't live in Texas or Illinois, this series sucked. Baseball's numbers are wrealing television wise to.

How did this series suck? Becuz the Yanks nor BoSox were in it? If you didn't want to watch, change the channel. So what if "sports fans" didn't tune in? Those of us in Texas, Illinois (and yes, in Charlotte) who had a vested interest watched. We enjoyed it.

It was a good series. Those who watched could not see what would happen next. Podsednik hitting a game winning HR? Journeyman Geoff Blum hitting a go-ahead HR in the 14th in his first at-bat? Jermaine Dye in an Oscar-winning performance and winning an MVP? Exactly how did it suck? Did the ratings suck? Fine, I'll give you that. Don't really care what the penny counters think. Did the games suck? Fuck no.

Now go back to watching your wrasslin. At least there you know the outcome.

I thought the games really weren't that good. At least the ones that I watched. The 14 inning game was a perfect example. The stros just kept swinging at bad pitches. Like they were trying to hard. And it's not like the Sox were taking control at that time.

Do you think that the Red Sox, Cardinals, Yankees, or Angels would have let that many opportunities go without getting a run?

I'm happy for y'all but let's not make this into a great series just because your team won.

never said it was a great series. well, great for chicago. but not a great one overall. it's not dbacks-yanks. i just take offense to folks who just do rip jobs without backing it up. tv ratings tanked, but not becuz the series sucked. the matchup didn't appeal to viewers. fine. but there are those of us who still watch and enjoy baseball - not celebrities or big stars, which is what tv wants.

i'd be saying this even if my team didn't win or wasn't in it. if your team is in it, watch it. if you like baseball, watch it. but don't diss cuz the suits tell you it wasn't a good series. watch and you decide.

    heres the thing:

A--BOS/STL/NYY/LA-ANGELS had opportunities in their playoff series and were beaten by the 2 teams playing for the ring. They didn't make it, so asking would they have squandered opportunities is a moot point.

B--the total runs scored was 20-14 for Chicago, with no game being decided by more than 2 runs (twice), and 1 run in the other 2 games. How is that not exciting baseball?

C--saying swinging at bad pitches makes the game bad is, to me, sorta ridiculous when you consider the 2 teams playing. HOU had NEVER been to a WS, and the Sox hadn't been there since 59, and hadn't won it since 1917. You can't overlook the "nerves" factor, with guys having a bit of the butterflies all series long.

It was a tense series the whole way through, Houston had their chances, and at times, made things interesting--well, damn near nerve-racking for me. I give HOU a ton of credit because they NEVER let up. They missed opportunities in key situations, but instead of tearing down the series, how about crediting the team that won? El Duque gets out of his own jam (much the same as he did v. Boston)? The 14 inning epic where just about everyone got into the game?

Sorry guys, but the series was a classic, and no, it has nothing to do with the fact that the team I cheer for won.
