Iowa is the top pork producing state. Pork is the most consumed meat in the world.

Pork consumption is the highest in the Midwest. Pork consumption does tend to follow income, with poorer people eating more pork.

Except the fact that as late as 1864, Abe was willing to allow slavery in the South if they would rejoin the Union. Kinda hard to be fighting a war about somethnig when you are willing to give it up if the other side will do what you ask.

Really? The only thing was the abolishment of slavery? Seen any states try to secceed since 1865?

Wasn't the Emancipation Proclamation designed to keep the French out of the war?

    Compromise. Just as in 1850.
His goal was to keep the Union together, that's awfully clear. He wanted the war over, which is honorable.
And funny how "states rights" weren't a big issue to the CSA in ruling its states. Funny how the people of those states weren't asked to vote on secession, just a portion that happened to be in favor of slavery.

Funny how California had a state constitution that abolished slavery, but the southern states didn't want it admitted free. That's not being in favor of "state's rights."

Are you saying that the compromise of 1850 wasn't largely drawn up to appease states that were threatening secession? Are you saying that the southern representatives didn't fight tooth and nail to force states looking to be added to the US as slave states to allow their own ways to survive? You have something the history books don't, then.

The fight overwestward expansion was about additional representation in government. Don't fool your self to believe the North was a good and kind land interested only in the fiar treatment of all people. They didn't allow freed slaves to own land. So basically it was..."they should be free...but not in my neighborhood". Yeah...they were all about their fellow man.
