Transubstatiation is the belief that the bread and wine of communion and transmuted into the actual flesh and blood of Jesus.

Commune is to exchange thoughts and feelings. To be in accord and agreement.

When I was younger in a missionary baptist church the older people called it communion.
Now we call it the Lord's supper also.

Oh ok, yes in our Baptist church it is the Lord's Supper also. It was called that in the LCMS also along with it being called communion because we were communing with the Lord; granted it was a close (not closed though it might as well be; had to get the approval from the pastor beforehand if not LCMS) communion meaning you had to agree with the LCMS doctrine on the Lord's Supper, the whole transubstantiation thing.

I think the denomination is actually Baptist. The Southern Baptist Convention is more of an organization than anything else. It's something to belong to and associate with to pool resources -- do God stuff on a bigger scale than individual churches would be able to do, especially mission work.

    ...and political lobbying...

I started off Methodist, and we had wafers and called it communion. Now that I'm in a church that's closer to Baptist, we have loaves of bread.

Wafers have two purposes over regular bread. One, they're unleavened, which is a closer representation of what was actually served at the last supper. Two, they're easier to handle for large congregations, and the health risk is minimalized.

As far as the Lutheran (?) doctrine of transubstantiation goes, I disagree totally. The Last Supper itself was a symbolic act. How could a modern day replication of it be interpreted as something more than it was on that night 2000 years ago?
