    Merts is commerciallly good....but if you want the goods....you got to drive up tryon towards the university....go past the men's shelter and under the train track....look to your left...there is a Mexican auto body shop....right beside it is a complete hole in the wall.....they got these greeks cooking and the grandma's waiting tables.....best fucking county/soul food around....they use all the artery cloggers.

    yeah, that sounds like the Famous Kitchen, and it is good. but if your already on Tryon, just go another 3 miles and hit the Chicken Box. it was listed by a few Panthers as a favorite place to eat.

    really the Chicken Box and the Coffee Cup are the only two restaurants that should be considered soul food. the rest are country cookin.
    at the Coffee Cup you can get fried chicken and waffles, with a side of pigs feet. cant get that at most places. (not that you would really want the pig feet)
